In his leisure, Alex enjoyed bowling, golf, travel, crossword puzzles and a good cigar. Children include daughter and son-in-law, Brandace and Brandon Moore; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Brad Philpot; son, James Quakenbush; son, Chris Smukalla; son, TC Smukalla; honorary Brazilian daughter, Fernanda Monte-Mor; grandchildren include, Evelyn and Eliza Philpot, Reagan Moore, and Madison and Luke Smukalla. In the 1960s he joined the Army and proudly served his country as a military police officer in Germany.
After leaving the military, he continued his career in law enforcement by joining the police department in Miami, Fla.

Bowman, and Lisa Perrott; son, Adil Hasan; brother, Bishop Jacob Cohen; sister, Mamie Cohen; grandsons, William A. Officer Carl Patrick was born on May 27, 1961, and raised in Miami-Dade County. At the age of 15, he volunteered with his brother at North Shore Hospital, where he later obtained permanent employment. In that same year, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country until 1986. After his discharge from the US Army, he continued his military service as a member of the active reserve with the United States Air Force.
A visitation will be held in the chapel of Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg, FL on Thursday July 10, 2014 from 6- PM. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Officer Patrick joined the Miami Police Department on May 8, 1989, where he spent his entire 25 year career patrolling all neighborhoods of the City of Miami protecting the citizens on all shifts.
He also served proudly for twenty (20) years as a member of the Miami Police Departments Honor Guard, where he represented the department at all types of functions such as police funerals, parades, swearing in ceremonies, and other prestigious events, until his sudden departure.
